OUR COMMITMENT TO SAFETY
W.I.S.E.: "Worker Initiated Safety Efforts"
The Tuttle "WISE" Program is a custom, proactive safety process developed to better monitor and track
employees' safety behaviors. It is a people-based and
behavior-based safety process that focuses on individual acts and
work methods, providing safety predictors that can be better
managed. By human nature, people tend to take chances when it
comes to safety and take short cuts to be more efficient. A lax
attitude towards safety ultimately leads to injuries. The Tuttle
W.I.S.E. Safety Program was developed and designed as a "no-name,
no-blame" system, where our employees observe and record both
safe and unsafe behaviors. This information is entered into a
data base that we use to proactively manage these behaviors. This
has resulted in significantly improving Tuttle's percentage of
safe behaviors and
outcomes.
What does W.I.S.E. mean for our customers?
Ultimately, a safer job site, safer workers, and a safer
environment for all of the individuals who occupy the
facility.
Safety Communication
A good safety record aids in identifying a
"good" contractor. However, having a good safety program is
simply not enough. At Tuttle, we expect excellent safety
performance as well as an unmatched safety program. This kind of
commitment to safety is the key to having a quality-conscious
organization. We take safety very seriously and as such, we
communicate this throughout our company by the following
measures:
- Daily W.I.S.E behavior observations
- Daily Task Safety Analysis
- Continual monitoring of our W.I.S.E. program
- Enforcement of emergency action plan
- Frequent training sessions
- Injury reporting and investigation
- Monthly newsletter safety up-dates, tips and reminders
- Provide incentives for safe work behaviors
- Subcontractor safety requirements
- Weekly "Tool Box Talks" on the job site
- Weekly documented safety inspections
- Weekly documented safety meetings
